Have you seen writer, educator, and ecologist John L. Vankat’s marvelous presentation of historical and modern-day photographs taken around the San Francisco Peaks and Flagstaff? If not, you have two opportunities coming up. Join us:
March 28, 6 p.m., Coconino Community College, 4th Street Campus Flagstaff
CCC is hosting John as part of its Comet Talk Series. This free event is available live and via Zoom. Learn more and register to attend Vankat’s Comet Talk at CCC.
April 26, 6:30 p.m., East Flagstaff Public Library, 3000 N 4th St, Flagstaff
Follow Soulstice on Facebook for more information as the date draws near.
In his presentation, Vankat brings alive the past 150 years on and around the San Francisco Peaks by presenting historical photographs paired with modern repeat photographs of exactly the same sites today. See the Peaks and Flagstaff as they were in the 19th century and examine changes that have taken place over time in our beloved landscapes. John’s book, The San Francisco Peaks and Flagstaff Through the Lens of Time, will be available for purchase, and the author will be on hand to sign your copy if you wish. You can also buy it ahead of time from Soulstice and tell us you want to pick it up at one of these events (just leave a comment as you complete your purchase).
To book this presentation for your group, please contact Publisher Julie Hammonds.
