Museum of Northern Arizona to host panel of women from “Voices/Portraits” book!

On Saturday, May 21, the Museum of Northern Arizona and Soulstice Publishing will co-host a panel discussion featuring women from our newly released book Voices of Navajo Mothers and Daughters: Portraits of Beauty. The event is free with museum admission, and everyone is invited.

Celebrating the Voices of Navajo Women: A Panel Discussion

The six women who have agreed to participate in this special event are Josie Begay-James and her daughter Tara Love (Chapter 22), Vivian Descheny and her daughter Ophelia Goatson (Chapter 21), Amy Begay (Chapter 12), and Lolita Paddock (Chapter 10).

The panelists will reflect on their experience of being interviewed by author Kathy Eckles Hooker, a former teacher with profound admiration for Navajo culture, and of having their portraits taken by photographer David Young-Wolff. Hooker and Young-Wolff will be on hand to sign books after the panel discussion. The book will be available for purchase at the event.
