“Walking Flagstaff: A Photo Journal by George Breed”

Winner of a New Mexico–Arizona Book Award!

The faces and places that give Flagstaff its unique character are captured in this award-winning collection of photos by George Breed.

At age 71, the Marine and martial artist was newly retired from a career in psychology when he began exploring the town’s streets, paths, and back alleyways on foot, camera in hand. Taken during a decade’s worth of daily strolls, these photos reflect the quirky vision of an attentive artist who finds meaning and connection everywhere he looks. The result is a book that captures the essence of a singular town.

Walking Flagstaff was a finalist in the Excellence in Storytelling category of the Flagstaff Arts Council’s Viola Awards in 2020. This book brought home a silver Benjamin Franklin award from the Independent Book Publishers Association in the Regional category. It also won Best Coffee Table Book and Best Cover Design from the New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards.
