Abdi Abdirahman Joins the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame!

Five-time Olympian Abdi Abdirahman joins the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame in April 2024. We’re celebrating with a special sale of Abdi’s World!

Abdirahman arrived in Tucson, Arizona, as a teenager when his family escaped civil war in their home country of Somalia. How the “Black Cactus,” as he is affectionately known, embarked on a career as one of the world’s most durable and beloved track and road racers of the 21st century is a story of resilience, commitment, and Abdi’s trademark joie de vivre.

Abdirahman is the author of Abdi’s World: The Black Cactus on Life, Running, and Fun, published by Soulstice Publishing in 2021. The book shares the stories that shaped Abdi’s enduring love of running and his laid-back approach to life.

“Abdi is one of the most inspiring and decorated distance runners in the United States today, but also the most fun to be with at the races. He is a natural storyteller and a gritty performer, so put this book on your reading list for both motivation and entertainment.” ~Deena Kastor, New York Times bestselling author of Let Your Mind Run

To celebrate Abdi’s induction, Soulstice Publishing is offering Abdi’s World at a special price. Throughout April 2024, readers can buy Abdi’s book for just $9.95, a substantial savings off the cover price of $19.95. The sale price is only available at soulsticepublishing.com.

Abdirahman is one of seven outstanding individuals being honored by induction into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame because they have “not only excelled in their respective fields but also enriched the sports heritage of Arizona,” according to the Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission. The other six illustrious inductees are Rich Dozer, Terry Francona, Richard Jefferson, Jerry Kindall, Charli Turner Thorne, and Bobby Winkles.

The 2023-2024 Crest Insurance Arizona Sports Hall of Fame induction is set to take place at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort on April 13, 2024.
